Seek the Creator, Not the Creation

Amos 5:8 & 14-15

8 It is the Lord who created the stars,
the Pleiades and Orion.
He turns darkness into morning
and day into night.
He draws up water from the oceans
and pours it down as rain on the land.
The Lord is his name!

14 Do what is good and run from evil
so that you may live!
Then the Lord God of Heaven’s Armies will be your helper,
just as you have claimed.
15 Hate evil and love what is good;
turn your courts into true halls of justice.
Perhaps even yet the Lord God of Heaven’s Armies
will have mercy on the remnant of his people.

I love verse 8. How many times do people ask you what your horoscope is or what sign are you so they can look up your horoscope. Why look to the stars for answers in your life when you can look to the One who made those stars? How awesome is our God whom we serve! He has control over the day and the night. He brings water through a cycle to evaporate, turn into clouds, rain on the ground, flow into streams and rivers that flow into the ocean so the process can start all over again. How creative is that? I couldn't come up with that for a million years. How can anyone say that it is through evolution that these things came about. It takes more fatih to believe in evolution than it does to believe in a creator.

Verse 14 is right on the money. Many verses in Proverbs speak of this. Do what is good, stay away from evil and you will live. When we do that we allow God to be our helper. When we not only stay away from evil but we have a hatred towards it so we don't go near it we will live and do what is good. I have heard that the people who work for the secret service who investigate forgery of our money never study the forgeries themselves. They study the real thing and when they see something that is not like the real thing they know it and can point it out. That is what we are supposed to do. We are supposed to study the real thing, Jesus Christ, and everything that does not line up with His Word we know is not from Him. This is very reassuring to us since His Word doesn't change we can rely on it for the truth that we seek.

Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)

The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you; The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you; The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
